For aspiring actors I am dedicated to nurturing their innate talents, drawing upon the wisdom and techniques of esteemed practitioners such as Stanislavski, Meyerhold, Vahtangov, Brecht, Grotowski, Ann Bogart, Suzuki and many others. Through the creative process, we journey into uncharted territories, unleashing the boundless capabilities that lie within each one of us.
I have developed a structured training program that incorporates various acting techniques, such as Stanislavski’s “Active Analysis“, Meyerhold’s “Biomechanics“, and Michael Chekhov’s “Psychological Gesture“. These methods have had a significant impact on contemporary acting approaches by emphasising the actor’s mindful connection with the theatrical space, fellow actors, and objectives. The theatre school, often recognised as the “experience school“, is distinguished as a leading institution in the global theatrical community due to its unique approach.
With extensive experience in teaching acting and drama classes at esteemed institutions such as the Actors Centre Australia, University of Newcastle, Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP), and Australian Institute of Music (AIM), I have also instructed drama to high school students at prestigious schools including Scots College, Masada College, Brent Street Studios, Conservatorium High School, Mad Cow Theatre Co., and at my personal acting studio at the Brisbane Waters Performing Art Centre. I derive great satisfaction from sharing my expertise with students and take pride in witnessing their professional and personal accomplishments.
I am honoured to have received an Honour’s teaching certificate from the University of Newcastle in 2012, recognising the success of my teaching style. It is truly fulfilling to receive positive feedback from my students, who often express appreciation for my ability to connect with them at a personal level, understand their ambitions, celebrate their achievements, and genuinely support their development. One student testimonial reads as follows:
“On occasion, we encounter someone who stands out among other acting teachers – someone who comprehends our thoughts and emotions, consistently supports us, selflessly cares for us, and speaks honestly. Thank you for making our drama classes exceptional. You are unquestionably the best drama teacher I have had in my five years of studying drama”.
In the realm of education, I echo the words of the legendary Sir Ken Robinson: “Creativity is just as vital as literacy or numeracy, deserving of equal reverence and recognition“.
Acting, with its rich tapestry of tools and methodologies, stands at the forefront of transformative techniques, fuelling the flames of innovation and self-discovery.
